Mental Health Awareness Month with High School Counselor Laura Baker Stenerson
Laura is a school counselor at Sheyenne High School in West Fargo, ND. Before being a counselor at Sheyenne, Laura worked as the elementary school counselor for Richland #44 school district in Abercrombie, ND 2019-2021 serving kids from pre-k through 6th grade.
Mental Health Awareness Month With Family Nurse Practitioner Sarah Gustafson
Sarah is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She provides clinical care including mental health care at Student Health Services on the University of North Dakota campus. She has over 18 years of health care experience, and is passionate about mental well-being and educating others on recognizing signs and symptoms of mental illness and looking at all available treatment options. Sarah is a past BIO Girls Mentor and a member of the TEARS* Advisory Board at Altru Health System.

Gatorade Player of the Year Designates BIO Girls for Play it Forward Grant
Noah Breker, a junior at Armstrong High School, Plymouth, MN has been awarded the Gatorade Cross Country Player of the Year 2021-2022 for Minnesota for outstanding performance in cross country. With this prestigious award, winners can designate a $1,000 grant to a 501(c)3 youth sports organization through the Play it Forward Program of the Gatorade Foundation. Breker selected Fargo, ND-based BIO Girls, Inc. to receive his grant.

BIO Girls is Making An Impact
According to research, in North Dakota, girls struggle with their mental health at nearly double the rates than boys do, and their relationship with their self-esteem is highest in third grade and plummets to a low in sixth grade. BIO Girls provides mentorship, an inclusive environment and valuable life skills to empower these young girls.
