‘Women Leading the Way’ Panel Proceeds Go to BIO Girls

Women’s History Month, which began on March 1st, is a time to honor the achievements and contributions of women across all industries. In celebration of this, American Peat Technology in Aitkin hosted the Women Leading the Way panel, an event designed to empower women and girls of all ages. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about leadership, mentorship, and how to serve as role models for future generations of women in the workforce.

The panel featured discussions from accomplished women who shared insights on overcoming workplace challenges and seizing leadership opportunities. Among the speakers was Amy Hart, CEO of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, who reflected on the evolving workforce and the persistent roadblocks that women face in executive positions.

Proceeds from the event were donated to BIO Girls, an organization dedicated to helping young girls build self-confidence through empowerment and service.

There is a self-esteem struggle and there is a mental health problem in the United States, especially with young girls,” said Hannah Wesner, the Crosby Site Director for BIO Girls. “We’re just trying to catch them before that adolescent area where they might not feel great about themselves and just have mental health struggles. Basically, we focus on different ways to navigate being a girl, growing up, and also navigating friendships and relationships.”

Through initiatives like BIO Girls, young women gain the skills they need to develop confidence and resilience—qualities that are just as crucial in leadership as they are in personal growth.

Events like Women Leading the Way emphasize the importance of building connections, both in and out of the workplace. These relationships help women navigate their careers, gain new perspectives, and find support in their professional and personal journeys.

By fostering discussions on leadership and empowerment, Women Leading the Way provided an invaluable space for women to share their experiences, learn from each other, and inspire the next generation of female leaders.
