Why am I the only one like this?
North Dakota Girls Are Struggling.
According to the 2023 North Dakota Youth Risk Behavior Survey: 1 in 3 ND girls state their mental health is not good, and 1 in 6 ND middle school girls has attempted suicide.
Girls are struggling in the big picture, yes, but also in situations as mundane and ordinary as lunchtime. A time to relax, replenish their body, refuel their mind for a day of learning.
There is no pause button. There is no exhale. There is no break. Girls are on a continuous cycle of comparison, perfectionism, and pressure leading to isolation, anxiety, depression, and self-harm.
This is what their struggle looks like.
BIO Girls is on a mission to improve the mental health of adolescent girls through empowerment of self and connection with others.
Using evidence-based techniques such as mentoring, physical activity, volunteerism, peer-to-peer connection and so much more, the renowned 12-session BIO Girls program is proven effective in decreasing anxiety and improving self-esteem in girls. Via hundreds of volunteers, BIO Girls is equipping communities to end the self-esteem crisis in adolescent girls.
This Giving Hearts Day, our adolescent girls need your support.
THANK YOU WELLS!
Thanks to our Giving Hearts Day partner, Wells!
With their generosity, your donation will be matched up to $50,000.
“The Wells Companies has been a proud supporter of BIO Girls since their first Giving Hearts Day in 2017! Our values are in complete alignment which is one of the reasons we chose to partner with BIO Girls. Wells is a family owned construction business that helps build landmarks in communities and many people on “Team Wells” have families of their own. As a father of two amazing young women who’ve participated in BIO Girls, I can vouch first hand for the importance of fostering positive self-esteem, confidence, and mental health as cornerstones in a strong foundation for future success. Our partnership with BIO Girls helps us focus on young girls who will one day be young women making their own way in the world. BIO Girls gives them “tools for their toolbox” early on in life and helps them successfully achieve goals, pursue careers, and become leaders in their chosen professions and communities.”
