Volunteer Highlight — Bridget Mattern

Meet Bridget Mattern

BIO Girls Volunteer in Emmons County, ND

We’re excited to highlight an amazing volunteer, Bridget, who has been serving with BIO Girls for an incredible 8 years at the BIO Girls Emmons County, ND site. Bridget’s dedication to empowering young girls is truly inspiring!

One of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering with BIO Girls, according to Bridget, is witnessing the incredible transformation in the girls each season. For her, it’s not just about teaching skills—it’s about seeing the girls come out of their shells, growing in confidence and kindness.

"Every season, you see at least one girl come out of their shell. The confidence and kindness that grows over the 12 weeks is just really hard to explain until you see it firsthand with a child at your site or even in your own home."

Favorite Mantra?

“I make a difference. I love our volunteer time/lesson. Giving back is so powerful for the people that you are helping but it is also so powerful in showing the girls what it does for themselves. Giving back fills my cup and I love watching it fill the girls' cups too.

Bridget’s involvement has not only strengthened her connection to the community but has also enriched her own life in ways she never expected. As Bridget looks back on her time with BIO Girls, she expresses how quickly the years have passed.

“These past 8 years have flown by. Working with the girls truly fills my cup, and I love giving back to my community."

Thank you, Bridget, for your incredible dedication and for making a lasting impact in the lives of so many girls. Your compassion and commitment are what makes BIO Girls such a special program!

thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
