Servant Leadership

Each year, the impact of BIO Girls spreads well beyond the number of girls participating in the program. One of the staples of our curriculum is one week dedicated entirely to serving others in our communities.

Through BIO Girls 1,200 girls + 400 mentors are engaging in service projects in 2019 alone in their community. Through these projects, the girls are learning about the needs in our community and how they can help. It is really a powerful 'lesson' to be working and serving others and seeing the impact we can have.

BIO Girls Site: Fargo Olivet (Pictured above)

Beneficiary: Patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer

Project: Partnering with Pink It Forward, the BIO Girls tied 19 fleece blankets and wrote encouraging notes to be placed in the care packages Pink It Forward sends out.

Here are a few other examples of the service projects the BIO Girls have completed in 2019:

BIO Girls Site: Fargo Oak Grove

Beneficiary: Patients at Sanford Children's Hospital

Project: The BIO Girls collected items and wrote heartfelt and encouraging notes for patients at Sanford Children's Hospital.

BIO Girls Site: Breckenridge, MN

Beneficiary: Local families in need + nursing home employees and residents

Project: BIO Girls made tie blankets to donate to families in need and made nice notes for people who work in the Nursing Home and for tenants of the Nursing Home. Sometimes a small note goes a long way!

BIO Girls Site: New London - Spicer, MN

Beneficiary: Children in their community

Project: BIO Girls collected and packed back packs for the back pack program in their community.

BIO Girls Site: Fargo Hope

Beneficiary: Children in their community

Project: BIO Girls assembled birthday bags for needy children in their community so they could have a birthday cake to celebrate their big day.

These are just a few examples of how the BIO Girls are giving back in their community. BIO Girls is providing a platform for girls to serve others; and teaching them that there is no minimum age requirement for making a difference.

"I love giving back, it makes me feel good and happy to know I can help someone else."

- 2nd Grade BIO Girl, Breckenridge.
