The mission of BIO Girls is to improve girls’ self-esteem.
Improving self-esteem is important because having low self-esteem, or being regularly unhappy or unsatisfied with yourself, is a strong predictor of behavioral and emotional problems including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, suicide, risky sexual behaviors, and substance abuse.
BIO Girls uses evidence-based techniques in tandem with our life-skills curriculum to improve self-esteem in adolescent girls across the Midwest. As an outcome-based program, BIO Girls is proven through independent research to improve: Health-Related Quality of Life, Physical Well-Being, Emotional Well-Being, Self-Esteem, Body-Esteem, Family Life & School Life.
