Volunteer Highlight — Jenny Mathiesen

meet jenny mathiEsen!

Jenny has been a mentor at Fergus Falls for the past five years. We are so inspired by Jenny’s time that she has put in to change young girl’s lives.

Jenny– thank you! Our team, the girls you have made an impact on, and the Fargo community sincerely thank you.

  • Why do you love volunteering for BIO Girls?

    • I'm passionate about teaching kids about what God says about them. While being a runner myself, I love the connection between working toward a goal and knowing who you are in God's eyes. I love helping girls build a foundation of who they are. Getting the chance to come alongside parents to point girls to Jesus is humbling!

  • Do you have an impactful story to share from your volunteer experience?

    • Each week, I took the devotional and taught it through the framework of "God says...". Some examples - God says I am treasured, God says focus on me and I will remind you who you are, God says he holds me in His right hand. During the last session when we made the banners, one of my girls didn't use the mantras to make her banner, she chose to use the "God says" sayings. We got to have a sweet conversation about her favorites and why they were meaningful for her. I'll never forget that day!
